Susanna Woodward (1695–1790), daughter of Daniel Woodward and Elizabeth Dana


William, the son of Richard and Rebecca Adams, was born on 29 January 1689/90 in Sudbury, Middlesex County, Massachusetts. [1] Mr. William Adams died on 1 August 1727 in Norwich, New London County, Connecticut. [2] He married Susannah Woodward on 2 May 1723 in Norwich. [2]

Susannah, the daughter of Daniel and Elizabeth Woodward, was born on 23 December 1695 in Medford, Middlesex County, Massachusetts. [3] She was baptized on 10 October 1697 in Cambridge. [4] She died on 29 April 1790, probably in Canterbury, Windham County, Connecticut. She married as his second wife Captain Joseph Adams, the son of Samuel Adams. [5] Joseph married first Eunice Spalding. [5]

Susanna is buried between her son Phinehas and his wife in the Baldwin Cemetery in Canterbury. Her gravestone says, "Mrs. Susanna wife of Joseph Adams Esq. Departed this life Apr 29th, 1790 in the 97th year of her age." [6]

Susanna, the executrix of her husband's estate, posted bond on 22 November 1727. Inventory was presented on 9 January 1728; it amounted to £1,766-11-09. [7]

Susanna, the wife of Captain Joseph Adams, was admitted to the Canterbury church on 2 April 1732. [8]

Children of William Adams and Susannah Woodward:

i. William Adams was born on 5 September 1724 in Norwich. [2] He was baptized in 1725 in Lisbon. [9]

ii. Phinehas Adams was born on 7 September 1726 in Norwich. He died on 7 January 1779 in Norwich. He married Lydia Fitch.
